Lab Pregnancy Testing
If you are having sex, even protected sex, there is a risk of pregnancy. There are many indicators of a possible pregnancy, including: a missed period, mood swings, appetite change, nausea, fatigue, breast tenderness, and/or frequent urination.
Our tests are lab quality tests. They are more sensitive than most of the pregnancy tests found in the store. Pregnancy tests check for a hormone called HCG that is produced by the embryo during pregnancy. It is best to wait 4 weeks from the first day of last menstrual period (LMP). If your test is negative we will have you come back for a re-test if you have not started your period. A blood pregnancy test will only be done if you have not had a period and have had 2 negative urine tests.
If your pregnancy test is positive our nurse will determine if you are eligible to have an ultrasound exam to confirm the viability of your pregnancy.
